Here’s my quick and easy settings for sharpening photos that are destined for the Web. You can resize first in Photoshop using the ‘Save for the Web’ command, but I’ll often just export my images from Aperture where I can choose to downsize them to whatever size I want. Pictures of Egypt

My visit to Egypt became much more than a trip to the Pyramids. Life there is centered on the country’s main artery, the Nile. This is where a photographer can find countless images that reveal the character of the country without to resorting to shots of the world-famous landmarks. Although I took my share of [...]

Colorful Peru

Today’s selections come from Peru. My trip there took me from Lima down along the coast and inland to Arequipa. From there I booked an overland trip to Colca Canyon, home of the condors as well as small, picturesque villages. The trip finished at Machu Picchu, the famous mountaintop city of the Inca.

Here’s a few photographs from the Italy leg of the 2004-05 trip:

I waited quite a while on a small bridge in Venice for the slight breeze to pick up this flag of the city. Finally, it filled slightly and I made the shot including a bit of the canal to the right for depth.

At the [...]

A weeklong visit to Oaxaca, Mexico resulted in quite a few photo opportunities. The historic city center has many small shops, a lively zocalo, or square, colorfully painted homes and businesses and beautiful Spanish churches. February was a good time to visit. The temperatures were mild with only a little rain one evening. A short [...]
