A weeklong visit to Oaxaca, Mexico resulted in quite a few photo opportunities. The historic city center has many small shops, a lively zocalo, or square, colorfully painted homes and businesses and beautiful Spanish churches. February was a good time to visit. The temperatures were mild with only a little rain one evening. A short drive out of town will get you to the ruins of Monte Alban or Mitla and many craft villages that line the valley. A week was just enough time to shoot in depth by returning to several locations at different times of the day for different results. Here’s a small sampling:

Hi Chris,
Loved the balloon seller. Would love to see more pictures! Maybe of the local people. Where else have you traveled? Do you have more pictures?
Thanks,
Donnatina.
I like the larger pics.
I so adore Oaxaca. Great images. I know exactly where the balloon photo was taken, because i arranged a taxi with the storefront on the far left— but they never showed up!
was the picture with the heart taken on Alcala?
Hi Julie. The balloon sellers were on one side of the square at the main Cathedral de Oaxaca.
You’re right about the heart. A restuarant (don’t know the name) on the corner of the Alcala and another street had these (paper mache?) hearts hung from each of several balconies. I assume it may have been in observance of Valentine’s Day since I was there in late Feb. Click on the link to my website for more Oaxaca photographs. Thanks for checking in.
